Svētdienas Rīts

This church newspaper is one of the earliest newspapers published in Latvija. The first issue of Svētdiena Rīts appeared in January, 1920. Originally published as a monthly paper of the Latvian Internal Mission Socieity, in early 1921 "Svētdienas Rīts" began to appear as a weekly paper and in 1923 became a church paper for the reporting of church events and for the printing of articles of interest for the clergy and laity.

The issue of "Svētdienas Rīts" of August 11, 1940, was the last issue for 49 years.

However, on March 26, 1989, "Svētdienas Rīts" published an issue in support of the democratic awakening being led by the Latvian National Front. On July 23, 1989, "Svētdienas Rīts" resumed publication as the church newspaper for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia. The paper appears weekly and includes reports of church and parish events, advertises upcoming events, and prints articles of practical and religious interest.
